So I'm looking to build a bunch of gaming pc's for a internet cafe im due to open in a few weeks but am a little stuck on what to do now that the rx460 and rx470 are due to come out also in the next few weeks I was originally going to go with the gtx950 because they fit my budget but now I'm not sure if u should get the rx460 hoping it will be on par with the gtx950 and cheaper or should I go a little over budget and get the rx470 in doing so furture proof my builds for a good few years and have the best by far gaming build internet cafe in the city where i am opening or should I just stick to the gtx950's ?

I should also add i live in Thailand so most the gaming cafes out here have really low end builds and even if u want with the gtx950 I would still have a better build then any of the internet cafes in my city

I came here to ask the same thing. I purchased a GTX 950 to play No Mans Sky when it releases, but haven't opened it yet. I saw that RX 470 and 460 were being announced this week, so I'm trying to make the same decision. I could return the 950 now and wait to find one, but then I have to decide on the 470 vs 460. Hoping for some benchmarks soon. I don't have time to game much, but want to be able to when I have time, though idle power draw is a primary concern for me. The 460 not needing additional power may be a plus for me.
Yeah that did come in to mind because I'm quite keen on opening asap, but I kept a eye on the rx480 when it first released and I found a shop that was selling them at a good price just a week after they came out so maybe it will be the same for the 460 and 470

Best bet would be RX 460/70. Better value, newer, built via 14nm Fin-fet, should be more attractive for your customers to have access to systems with newer cards, as well. Look into pre-ordering. Looking on Amazon, even Sapphire Radeon NITRO R9 380 (meant to compete with gtx 960) is priced just $10 more than the cheapest gtx 950 at the moment on the US site, though not sure re prices in your region. You should hopefully be able to get a discounted price regardless of your choice, depending on how many cards you plan to buy. Here's a link to some of the upcoming 460/70 custom cards btw http://wccftech.com/amd-radeon-rx-480-470-460-custom-models/

how much did you pay for your gtx950 ?

According to this website, the GTX 950 is better than both the 460 and 470. So you should get the gtx 950.

That's the NVIDIA GTX 470 you've got in that link; it's a 6 year old card. It's not comparing it to the AMD RX470, which hasn't been released yet.

OP the 470 comes out in 2 days so worth waiting that long if you can. What kind of games are customers going to play in the cafe - if it's esports e.g. DOTA, LoL, Starcraft, CSGO then a GTX 950 should be adequate. Although the 460s are supposed to be geared toward that market. If it is the current esports titles you're getting the cards then not sure how much future proofing you'll need as these games have been around for a while and will probably remain for a time to come.

If you've got some more intense games, e.g. a Doom then a 470 might be required - either way, I would wait til the 470s come out and check the performance reviews, prices and compare. Not sure if the 460 will be better then a 950 but you'll have to wait until August 8th for reviews. Worth noting that the 470s and 460s will probably be reference cards (not sure if they're releasing the aftermarkets at the same time or within the month?) so agree with turkey scratch that availability may be an issue, especially if you need them in bulk.

Aah, thanks for noticing me. I just realized. Sorry, my bad.

No problem, for a second thought it was a troll response!

yeah you are right a lot of the games played out here are years old and don't need much gpu power so a rx470 is most prob overkill and a rx460 or gtx950 would be fine but I cant help but wonder if the reason why they play such old games out here is because they have no choice all the gaming cafes have really low end builds and I just think maybe if I have builds in my café that they can play any new games at med to high setting at 60fps it will attract more customers and my café would get a name for it self as being the best in town or it could go the other way and all I get is customers playing games like lol and dota and I would have wasted money on gpus I didn't need,

guess it will just have to come down to how much the rx460 and rx470 is out here and how quick I can get them

That's fair enough - if the 470s are affordable for yourself in Thailand then that'll probably be the way to go. They'll be more future proof if you're going for the higher end titles for your cafe. If not, may have to see if the 460s/950s are within budget and available.

Either way, from what you're saying whatever way you go the specs on the pcs you're going to make sound like they'll be better compared to the other internet cafes. All the best with it and send us some pictures please!

Shame they have priced them at that point - seems a bit pointless to lose out on the RX480 for only $20 less. 950s would do well, especially for the price point and that you'll still be better off compared to other cafés.

Oops, didn't get a notification of a reply. I paid $139.99 for the GTX 950, so I'm probably only really comparing against the RX 460 at this point. I know the official launch is on the 8th, so hopefully I can start finding some benchmarks that can compare the two.

Looks like the rx460 has crashed and burned there are benchmarks showing that it comes no where near a gtx950 more like a gtx750ti if them benchmarks are real they are going to have to price it under $80

Crash and burn? You might want to at least wait 'til actual benches of the card have been taken after its released before you make that assertion, rather than rely solely on alleged "leaked" info of one of gigabyte's 460's... It'll be MSRP'd for around $100 supposedly, and for that price and target audience, it should be the best value for it's price point, regardless of whether it always beats a 950 or not. Most of the 950's are currently priced around $150 btw, cheapest one at Amazon is currently $139.99.
