Hi, I recently upgraded my PC from a GTX660 to a GTX970. I've seen people using dual graphics cards in the past but always the same type. Would it be possible to use both my new GTX790 and GTX660 at the same time to boost my FPS in some games or would it actually hinder my PC?

And yes, I do have two graphics card slots in my motherboard and my 660 would fit inside my case.

My current specs:
CPU
Intel Core i5 3550 @ 3.30GHz
Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology
RAM
8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz
Motherboard
MSI B75A-G43 (MS-7758)
Graphics
4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 (MSI)
Storage
119GB ATA SAMSUNG SSD 830 SCSI Disk Device (SSD)
1863GB ATA WDC WD20EARX-008 SCSI Disk Device (SATA)
(Information from Speccy)

Thanks!

They could not be run in SLI. At the best you could use the GTX 660 as a PhysX card for some benefit in a few titles. That's assuming your PSU is up to the task.

Alright thanks, yeah my PSU is 550w I forgot to mention, I think selling the 660 for £150 is probably a better option then. Thanks for a quick reply!

The 970 is so powerful that the gains from retaining the 660 will not be worthwhile. The calculations for physx will not affect performance in any noticeable way.3-5% maybe but it adds a lot of extra power for basically nothing. The 80 dollars in your pocket selling the 660 would be worth more to you.
