I have been looking to upgrade my PC for some time with a £300($440) budget. I have been trying to determine the best way to spend for performance for me. I have been looking at purchasing a new graphics card, and my eyes turned to the MSI GTX 970. I know the GTX 970 had its whole 3.5GB ram thing but I can't see any better card for the money. I figured upgraded my GPU would be a great way to boost my fps and performance, however I'm pretty sure my CPU is going to bottleneck on a GTX970. I was wondering on whether I should upgrade my CPU first or go for a GPU upgrade first? And if so are there any better GPU's that would outperform the GTX970 for £300?

Solution
Upgrade the gpu first, you might find that your cpu is still fine for a while.
No, gtx 970 is a good value. If you spent less money, amd is usually a better price to performance.

I have a i7 930 (O/C to 3.8) with a GTX 970 right now. It works fine, I haven't noticed a bottleneck at all yet. it has been running everything I thrown at it at high settings.
