So i recently bought a new system, and I'm worried that my Gtx980 isn't performing as well as it could be, possibly because of my cpu. I assumed that a quad-core at 3.9ghz would be enough to not limit the card, but again, im unsure. FYI i have turned off the built in gpu's on the A10. Thanks

AMD processors use different architecture - Their cores have to be clocked higher to match an intel core. That's why a higher clocked AMD core doesn't mean its better than an Intel core.

The A10-7870k is the best APU AMD has out right now though.

I don't have any particular problems, i was just curious because all the games ive seen benchmarks for with the 980 seemed to run a bit better than in my own experience. So the A10 shouldn't have any detrimental effects? My friend also said (not sure where he got his source of info) that intel processors for gaming require less cores/less power ie: an i5 is as good as an FX 8-core, can you confirm/deny if thats true?
