As said in the the subject. Im thinking on replacing my actual computer.
Right now i have:
i7 920 oc 3.8
12 gb ram t-channel (nearly 1666 with the oc)
Ssd 256 gb
Gtx970

Is it worth it upgrading it now or should i wait for the next generation?.
in case of it. Ryzen or i7 8th gen?.
(i would get a full new system, thinking on getting also a new monitor for 1440p and more hz)

Solution
Assuming you don't need OS, can reuse SSD, 2k gaming:

Feeling it sluggish nowadays in games, stuttering mostly. For example? warhammer total war 2, rising storm 2 vietnam, even a ramdom little freeze in things like lol (althoug not often fortunately).
Btw, 3.6, wasn't able to keep it at 3.8, my bad.
Im in Spain btw, max around 1500-1600€

Yep, i would love to have it as an option, thanks (and sorry if my english sucks a bit sometimes)

Yep! That i7 920 has served you well, but it is time to replace that space heater. Thoughts on the overclocking builds below?

Holy shit, that was fast, thanks, last question, why AMD instead Intel?

I will suggest Coffee lake if not only Z370 MB is available now. Cheapest is 150. If for 1080p gaming, coffee lake is much better. But due to extra 2 cores in Ryzen 7, 2k+ gaming Ryzen is better :) You see 2k has no diff between the two. If you go to 4k, Ryzen is the clear winner, not to mention they are cheaper than coffee lake and last longer as they are the first gen of new AM4 socket. Coffee lake socket is old and no guarantee they will not change socket soon.
