Hello all, I have decided to leave my console and jump back into the PC gaming scene. The last PC I built was in 2007, I think I have come to a good balance for a powerful machine. I think my biggest concern is if airflow will be a concern.

I am pretty much settled on the NZXT H500 black/blue as it fits a design theme I am going for. What is everyones thoughts on the chosen components and on the thermal issues of this case? Thanks in advance!!!

No fault in getting the best, of course , that's basically what I did at the time I built mine...

Have you considered a higher capacity and/or a higher performing power supply?

For example, you could get an 850 W Platinum unit from the same line of product you picked, which is, the Corsair RMx product family.

It's just that, the price per capacity and performance for M.2 NVMe SSDs really falls off quite rapidly. 500 GB is the sweet spot. 1 TB if you want to splurge a little (i.e. get the best). The 2 TB, at this point, doesn't really do much for you. You could get a high capacity 2.5" SATA SSD and store a boat-load of things on it, all day long, without really feeling the difference at all.

What resolution and refresh rate is the screen are you are pairing this with? You could most likely spend a lot less on this system and get very similar gaming performance.

850W Gold (Corsair or Seasonic)

Asus ROG Hero (or Strix)
970 EVO (500 GB) + whatever else you want

What's the monitor?
May I recommend the LG 34UC79G-B ($500) or 34GK950F-B ($1000)?

I added the spinner for raid 1 so I have a backup and the 280 is the largest the case will fit.

If you are planning to RAID the SSD with HDD, maybe you should rethink. The RAID will be as fast as the slowest drive, rendering the SSD speed useless. Moreover if the drives in the RAID are of different architecture, it makes it pretty unstable.

For RAID to work best, you want two (or more) identical drives. You really don't need it.

Hellfire13 and GB189, you guys are talking about two different cases with two different cooling capabilities.

H500's max fitment is 280mm
H700's max fitment is 360mm

Also, you can usually find 3200 MHz (or faster) memory for the same price.
Additionally, GB189 initial instinct on the Samsung 970 EVO M.2 NVMe is a good one, for performance, endurance, and warranty.
THG recommends Adata SX8200 Pro (New Controller).
The mechanical drive is a bit out of place here.

$80 for 850 W Gold is a good deal.
the Hero mobo is a splurge option, it's the cheapest ROG mobo out there.
