Hi, I am planning to build and buy a new PC, mainly for softcore gaming (dota2) and school stuff (internet, adobe photoshop, autocad). My main concern is that I might buy components that won't fit to the motherboard and all that technicalities. Can someone help me understand all that? And probably suggest what I would buy. Price is a concern though, so maybe some energy efficient monitor and PC specs enough to do the above duties?

PS: I might buy the pieces one at a time, so maybe help me prioritize what to buy first?

Can anyone help? :)

Hey
thats what we need to know.
How much you can spend..?
$300, 400, 600, 1000.............
in every budget parts are different.
Sorry.
But better to know exact budget.
Thank you.

Umm sorry. I really have no idea how much things cost so I really can't say how much would my budget be. But maybe, say, a practical price, I mean I can spend but the lower the cost the better. I hope I'm making sense.

Well I only play dota 2, so maybe specs that can run it smoothly. And yes I do a lot of 3D rendering. And about the monitor my most concern is energy consumption. Any 18 inches would do as long as its energy efficient.

@princejeet
Maybe $500 budget [whole PC w/o monitor]? And can you optionally recommend better components? I can spend more than $500 up to a 1000 if I find it suitable enough.

Can a $500 PC decent enough to simultaneously open autocad, photoshop, and dota2?

Hey
get a 550-600w psu from corsair sesonic or xfx for best setup. It will increase your budget but get a cheaper case and lower down your ram to 4gb and hdd to 500gb. May it will helps you to maintain your budget.
I hope it helps.
Thank you.

Ah don't go with zotak buddy it's gpus not good.
My build also goes to near about $600 but op budget is $500 around. My build is better in every field. Just need a good psu.
I hope it helps.

Gee. Thanks for the time and sorry for the late reply. So bottom line which one should I check out? It's okay to not include the monitor in the $500 budget. And I'm not a heavy gamer, as long as Dota2 runs fine (preferably on all high-settings) I'm okay with it.

@karlsanada13
With this setup does my autocad won't lag?

The 2133 ram will help you a lot. But I guess you cannot go wrong with prince build. Get the cpu and motherboard from his build and merge it to my build. Get GTX 650 Ti Boost, MSI, Gigabyte or Asus.

An ssd will also help you a lot but that costs $100-$150 more.

Hey you don't need 2133 ram. I m also mechanical engineer. I also works a lot on autocad, catia, solid works. I used it easily on 1333mhz ram 2gb. Never feel any type of lag.
If ur budget allows then i agree with karlsanada13 with getting a ssd and gpu .
I hope it helps.
Thank you.

So I would get,
from karlsanada13:
atx:NZXT Source 220 $40
motherboard: ASRock FM2A75M-DGS FM2 AMD A75 (Hudson D3) SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 $55
hdd:Western Digital WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB $70
ram: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 $73
gpu: SAPPHIRE 100355-1GOCL Radeon HD 7850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 $155
from princejeet:
PU AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core $119.99 Newegg
Motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+ $94.98 Outlet PC

Is this right? And ssd=solid state drive, right? What's the difference between hdd and ssd?

@prince: For the price you've given for the ram, it's almost the same price as what I've given so I guess getting a higher frequency will be more worthy.

Atx: NZXT Source 220
Cpu: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core
Motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+
hdd:Western Digital WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB
ram: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133
Graphics card: EVGA GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost 1GB

Nvida cards have CUDA cores that will help a lot in 3D rendering.

SSD is more pricey since it's 100x faster than an HDD.
