Hello!
I just found out how an APU with a Locked Multiplier can be Overclocked and decided to share this with you :)

My build's parts :

ASUS F1A55-M LX R2.0 Motherboard :

AMD A4 3400 Accelerated Processing Unit :

GeiL Dual Corsa Enhance 1600MHZ Ram :

Let's start.First of all,the number of the mutliplier ex. x27 for the A4 3400 is the times the fsb is multiplied = cpu frequency (100x27=2700mhz).
All Processors have their FSB set to 100,as well as this APU.For example,by changing the FSB to 113 the APU's frequency went to 3051mhz and my RAM's frequency to 1800mhz.In case your RAM becomes unstable (My mobo will inform me that the settings are incorrect,it will reset them by itself and ask me to press F1 to enter the UEFI BIOS) you have to give a bit more voltage to your RAM.I increased it from 1.4V to 1.5V and it is perfectly stable.I also OCd the GPU (HD6410D) by giving a little more voltage to the APU1.2 (terminology might differ depending on the manufactuer).

On a game (Live For Speed) using the highest settings @1080p I get an average of 90fps compared to 70-80fps.

Post your results this way :

Model : A4 3400
Stock Clock : 2700 MHz
Overclocked Clock : 3051 MHz
Voltage : Stock
Stable : Yes
RAM : 1600 MHz
Overclocked Clock : 1800 MHz
Voltage : +0.1V
Stable : Yes
GPU : HD6410D
Voltage : +0.2V
Stable : Yes

Improvement : Yes

Happy OCing! For any mistakes, things worth to add etc. leave a reply below :)!

Im currently working on my a4-5300 (3.4ghz stock clock)

My previous build was a phenom II setup, with those we like to push the NB frequency further than 2000mhz (2200-2400mhz) and we get good gains.

Do the FM1/2 platforms gain much from the NB? Mine is 1600mhz by default.

One thing I did notice is a decent frame per second jump when benchmarking with 'NovaBentch' after i jumped from 1066mhz ram to 1333mhz with the same timing. My ram is stable as well (gskill rip jaw 1066 2x4 kit)

It makes sense because the APU uses the system ram because it obviously has no onboard ram.

Remeber to always have a good aftermarket cooler if you are going to overclock...
this processor haves bad heat tolerance, so if you OC it you need to keep the heat down to 60-65oC MAX in stress test or else it isn't safe...

I reach FSB limit for my mobo is 140mhz any more have no effect simple after reboot in bios setup I will see for example 145 but when I boot windows cpu-z will detect only 140 (exactly 139,92)
140 FSB, of course, is fully stable.

System Specs
CPU: AMD Althon X4 740 @4,47Ghz Max temp 56C
Frequency: 4477Mhz
Ref* Mulitiplier: 139.85 * 32 ( Under Bios is 140)
CPU Voltage: 1.45V
NB Frequency: 2238.8Mhz
NB-Volts- + 0,12V
RAM: 8GB 1866Mhz DDR3 CL8 @ 1.65V ( Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A ) CL8-9-9-22
Motherboard: Asus A88XM-A + added heat sinks on power section
GPU: Sapphire Radeon R7 260X 1GB GDDR5 OC
Cooling: Air Cooling/ CPU Cooler Master Hyper TX2 + AAB Cooling Thermal Grease 2 Max Temp 56C
