Can someone explain how I can set my memory to its correct speed?
The memory is Kingston KHX6400D2LLK2/2G (DDR-800, PC2-6400) and the CPU is E8400. By default the memory is 667 MHz, and if I set the motherboard's FSB to 800 MHz the memory is set to 400 MHz.
^So? What's your problem? Just set the SPD to 2 and then increase CPU. Don't bother with setting the RAM to run at 800Mhz with a lower FSB. FSB:RAM at 1:1 is fine.
If FSB is 800 MHz and SDP is 2, then the RAM runs at 400 MHz. SDP 4 makes it run at 800 MHZ. At least according to BIOS. CPU-Z says it's running at 400 MHz and that FSB:RAM is 1:2. However, CPU-Z doesn't recognize my memory so it could be spouting nonsense. Or not.
Im having a problem with my P35-DS3L not holding an OC and not being able to flash it. My OC shows up in the BIOS but not in windows using cpu-z and its running F7 bios and when I try to flash it with F8 or F9 its not reading the flash drive and i've tried 2 both formatted to FAT32. I did a thread on this but havnt had any responses and I wanted to look here for help.
Nice guide Shadow!
We need people like you to post stuff on ovaclockers...you haven't been on there in a while...you should check it out, it recently had some changes...
the bios on this MB is not like f14 or something. i think i am still on f5. i was about to start OC'ing my e6750. i have ddr2 800mhz and was going to try for 400mhz fsb x 8 to get 3.2ghz. can i not do that at all with f5? i really have never updated a bios, and i don't even have a floppy (usb drive or cd drive). i have heard you can really screw things up so would rather not do it if i don't have to.
ok .... i'm overclockin my Q9550 on this board and am wondering what should i set my ram timings to ...i have an CM2X2048-6400C5 and timings are 5-5-5-18 ...
