Hey everybody,

I was wondering if there was some sort of general consensus when it comes to the different aftermarket versions of gpu's.

For example, major brands include MSI, EVGA, GIGABYTE, ASUS, etc.

And even within each one of those, there are numerous types. For example, at MSI for the GTX 1070. there's: Gaming X 8G, Armor 8G, Sea Hawk, Aero, etc.

Is there some sort of general trend in quality from brand to brand? Between big brands (MSI, EVGA, GIGABYTE, etc.) as well as between the different types (Aero, Sea Hawk, Armor, etc).

Thanks!

there really are no bad cards anymore. just bad prices. there are some solid cards that are usually worth the price but not any specific "have to get this one" type of consensus.

here is all the 1070 and 1080 cards along with the specs. reviews are linked as they show up as well so you can compare them. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-3047729/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1000-series-megathread-faq-resources.html

so far, they have all been pretty close to the same. this time around, looks and price, are going to be the deciding factor for most of the cards. all will oc to the same levels and stay cool with the custom cooling offered. they all seem pretty quiet as well so far. read some reviews to get an idea how close they are.
