I noticed this folder on my desktop and wanted to move it, but it seems stuck there saying Its open when all I want to do is move it. But I am not using it as I have a desktop icon available tor it and its not in my programs and features in control panel.

If its not a program but a file folder, why can't I move it? And is it possible to just remove it completely from my system. I can always setup a book mark to their page if I want to look for information so I don't see why I can't just delete it (again, won't let me, it keeps saying its open, but I have no opened the folder).

If your using a windows based system you can reboot/restart your PC and on reboot right after the "bios" screen start taping "F8" which should bring you to a menu screen with the option of safe mode. Boot into safe and you should be able to delete the file off your desktop, then restart and every thing should be back to normal.

tapping the F8 key did not work....for some reason it threw me into some technical screen with a lot of different options but not one to reboot into safe mode, obviously that isn't going to work.

So I did a google search and found this:
If you've used Windows 10 for a while, you might have noticed that the "old ways" of booting into Safe Mode no longer work. By that, we mean trying things like pressing the F8 or Shift + F8 keys on your keyboard while booting. These methods stopped working in normal cases because the boot procedure became faster than ever before. Such actions simply don't work. But that doesn't mean Windows 10 has no Safe Mode. It's just that to get to it, you have to follow other procedures. Let's take a closer look and see how you can get into Safe Mode in Windows 10.

Here is the link for that page of information. I shall follow those steps...but thanks for the information about using safe mode to remove that file. Appreciate that.

There appeared to be software data and other "files" but I could not remove it because it kept telling me it was already open when I know i had not opened the folder. So apparently it was connected to something running on my machine..but I have no idea what.

So I googled this question: "why is there a Guru3D folder on my desktop" ...and one of the interesting answers was that it appeared to be connected to something to do with a diagnostic related to World of Warcraft game. I play WoW and have been having issues that needed to be fixed. My tech actually did most of the trouble shooting in late November early December, but I don't remember him saying anything about it.

Since that is about the same time frame it showed up, I suspect he just forgot to remove it after he was finished. I sorted this out after reading the page at the Guru3D website offering information for various tech. (here is the link to http://www.guru3d.com/)

UPDATE:
This is the link I used to find out how to boot in safe mode for my Win10 os:

Well, I supposed I should have responded in my post on the 4th about how I found out how to boot in safe mode for my Win10 os to delete the file. I assumed since I posted that information, that the logical thought process would be that I followed those steps provided by "digitialcitizen" and was able to remove the folder.

Final solution was exactly that. I followed the easiest step provided in the link I put on my post for my Win10 os and was able to boot in safe mode and promptly removed the folder and all its contents without issue. Then unchecked the safe mode boot box and restarted my pc which fixed the problem.

Sorry for the confusion.
