H100i not detected in Corsair Link (Win 8.1)

Hello,

I've got this new system built and everything is working just fine except for the H100i hydro cooling system by Corsair. I have installed it with two SP120 High Performance fans connected to the MB (ASUS HERO VII) as well as the mini USB into the pump itself. Now, if everything worked fine I should to be able to tweak fan speeds and set up programmes for them and whatnot in Corsair Link (Corsair's own software for managing and monitoring their software and other.)

The H100i does not show up in Corsair Link, and the fans that do shop up, which are case fans, are not responding to me. I can, however, control the case fans through ASUS software: AI Suite, but now the fans on the radiator.

Now, apparently there is a fix for this, since many people seem to have had trouble with it, specially in Windows 8.1. The fix is going into regedit and changing some values under HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\VID_1B1C&PID_0C04. The thing is that I do not have such entry (VID_1B1C&PID_0C04). Perhaps this is because the USB is not detected? I did get asked to install Corsair USB Dongle at some point, and afterwards whenver I intall whatever version of Link it just magically appears in Programmes in Control Panel.

I have tried booting with the USB unplugged and plugging it back in once system is started and installing Link, and yet nothing seemed to work. Some versions show more things than others in Link, but the most I got still does not detect H100i nor the SP120 fans on it. They now run at max RPM by the sound and noticeable air flow around the PC, so yes, they do work, and quite well, but just not as I would like them to, that's too much.

Here's a video and a couple of pictures for a better understandment:

Thanks.

Don't you have the fans plugged into the pump? Sounds like you got all the fans plugged into the motherboard. Link won't control fans plugged into motherboard. You should however have the pump plugged into CPU fan header so that motherboard is tricked into thinking there is a fan connected.

Yes sorry, those two fans are connected to the pump, the top part. The mini usb from the pump is connected to a USB header on the motherboard. What do you mean "You should however have the pump plugged into CPU fan header so that motherboard is tricked into thinking there is a fan connected.", how can I do that? Perhaps I did, I just don't get it.

Yeah seen the video you got at lost 2 fans running off pump. I imagine the rad fans. Any fans you want to control through link would have to be plugged into pump otherwise your using Asus Suite and those 2 don't get along. I've actually disabled the temp probe and monitor in Suite. Don't need it since Link can do all that. What I meant was there is a little fan cable with a single wire on it that is plugged into CPU fan header. Anyway you'd probably be getting some motherboard error messages if it wasn't plugged in.

Anyhow after disabling Probe I uninstalled Link exactly how Corsair says in the discussion forum. (I'll post link, I have it on bookmark bar lol) Then I went and switched USB headers. Turn your PSU off while doing this. Apparently a cold boot is essential. Then install latest Link version. It worked for me. Hope that helped.

Wow, that *seems* complicated, I'm just an initiate!
- What is "Probe" and how do I disable it?

- I don't know if I have another USB header around or if I do where is it on the mobo. I'll post a pic of the one I'm using so you can tell me if there's one on sight in the pic that I can use.

- You had the same trouble I'm going through now? If you did and you managed to get it working I'm getting my hopes up!

EDIT - Picture of the header and plug: http://oi62.tinypic.com/behpur.jpg

Sorry sometimes I just assume people know what I'm talking about :) Asus suite 3 is actually quite different from Suite 2 so I couldn't really tell you how to disable the temperature probe. Your also running Win 8.1 where as I have 7. But the problem was very similar with me not having the pump or fans being detected. Just uninstall as Corsair says and switch you USB 2.0 header with one that is being used by another plug. Probably your USB slots on the case. It forces Windows to recognize the H100i again and make sure you do the cold boot. Power off.

Hi, I changed it into another USB header on the motherboard and it worked. Then back to original and worked as well.

Yeah that's weird. I've uninstalled and re-installed CL about 8 times. Works now mind you but switching headers does the trick after re-install. The only problem I got which is minor and that is detecting chassis fan 3 but the cooler is doing just the CPU with a pair of insane Delta fans. That's it's job. This 9370's core temps are 45 on Stress test.
