Hi, i have a Corsair H100i v2 and i think i'm going to buy a 9900KF; do you think that the cooler will be enough to run this CPU at stock clocks or should i go for a 280mm radiator? I need a CPU that last for at least 3-4 years, i live in Argentina and the prices are really high (1 dollar = 55 argentinian pesos). I have an i5-9600K, a Maximus Hero XI WiFi and an EVGA GTX 1070 Ti SC. If i don't buy the 9900KF; will the 9700KF accomplish this 3-4 years task and will the H100i v2 be enough for this one? Thanks!!!

Of course, it's more than enough for stock clocks, should handle a moderate overclock as well. A 30 dollar hyper 212 evo air cooler would be enough at stock clocks, you have a 240mm water cooler lol yeah its enough.

Is this a gaming PC? If so a 9700k is again more than enough to fully utilize a 1070 ti in really any game (so is your 9600k) out today and more than likely plenty for games launched 3-4 years from now.

Personally I would stick with your 9600k and wait for future CPU's. You will not see any improvement in games with a 9700k or 9900k vs your 9600k using a 1070 ti.

Thanks for your answer. I'm currently playing "A Plague Tale: Innocence" in ultra settings at 1080p, great game and runs smoothly. So you think i can wait till Intel finally release 10nm desktop processors or go for Ryzen when they change its AM4 platform? My temps running CB R15 are near 49-53 degrees C and running Prime 95 v26.6 i get 57 degrees C; are these good temps? Thanks again!

Huh. Not really.

The 100i is a 250w cooler, the i9 9900kf will easily dump 200w+ at stock settings. The only difference between a i9 9900k and a i9 9900kf is the 'F' means the igpu is disabled. Otherwise it's the same 8/16 cpu that can reach 250w if pushed at 5.0GHz.

You'll be able to get ok? temps just gaming, as most games don't really use more than 8 threads, but those that can and will will be pushing the temps up hard until the cpu decides not to step up thread count further. Even gaming will push easy 70's+, 80°C isn't uncommon for a 9900k.

Darkrock pro 4, Noctua NH-D15, Cryorig R1 ultimate are absolute minimum required, 280/360mm aio recommended, full custom loop preferred for a 9900k that's going to see hard thread usage.

Then, IF i have to buy one of the 2 CPU's (9700KF or 9900KF) i should go for the 9700KF, shouldn't i? I mean to not change the CPU cooler too. I know the F means "no iGPU" but here the F CPU's are cheaper (for example the 9700KF is 90 dollars less than the 9700K). How many degrees Celsius will the 9700KF be compared to 9600K?

The 9700k OC to 5.0GHz comes in right at 200w when all cores are stressed, so running stock expect @ 150-160w at most, which is fine for a 240mm AIO. You'll be seeing maxed out temps in the 70's (or should be), gaming temps closer to mid 50's.

The problem with the i9 is the hyperthreading. It's a 'smart' cpu, so generally will only run 8 - 12 threads, if voltage and temps allow, it will run more if it can. It'll step up thread count only if temps and voltages are good, so if at 12 threads its reaching over @ 80°C, that's where it'll stop, it won't allow the extra threads.

So if you don't have the cooling capacity or efficiency to keep lower temps, there's no point in buying the i9 9900kf as it'll choke before allowing you to kill it.

I'm sticking with my 9600k. I'll update my mother, cpu and cooler in the future. I think, like Dunlop0078 said it will be enough for games for now. Thanks!
