In my current CPU i have a h100I... it never seemed to work that good or as expected i still have higher then avg temps at stock. I originally had a h60 or something, it wasnt doing the job good enough so i upgraded to this and it helped only by 5-6C on idle. Ive reseated it numerous times so i know thats not the issue.. i think my CPU just runs hot in general (I7 920)

Im building my new computer and i ran across corsairs support forum for the h100's/80s etc and was kind of shocked by how many posts i seen about them failing in general or breaking open / blowing up and people putting in $$ claims. Kind of scared me and decided to look at specs vs high end air cooling. I dont plan on doing an extreme OC with my 4670k so it would seem Noctua NH-D14 would be just as good, maybe a few C difference but hardly noticeable if your not doing extreme OC.

The problem is the thing is so damn BIG. it will fit in my case im getting (the Thermaltake chaser MK-1) but do you really have to worry about the pressure it puts on the motherboard like some people mentioned? I will admit first hand that the one really nice thing about the h100 is it takes up barley any room on the mobo which looks pleasing.. opposed to a huge block.

Am i being overly paranoid about the CLC coolers or is it justified and just go for the high end air cooling?

I would just get a cooler master hyper 212 evo or get the cooler master v8 and if possible the v8 gts. These are really good cpu coolers, dont know of anyone having MAJOR issues really. Plus they are cheapr and they do around the same amount of work. you could just switch one of the fans and put a noctua one in instead if you feel like it.
