H110 vs H170 and etc.

Background: I recently purchased two rigs-worth of components, and I went with the Asus H110M-D (https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H110M-D/) for both PCs, the other option being the H110-K model (https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H110M-K/).

I don't seem to find much info endorsing them in forums, though. PCPartPicker doesn't even have prices for the D model.

I understand the chipset isn't a popular one, but in terms of price to performance, how does it actually stack against other chipsets, and should I be looking to upgrade (eventually), where do I look to? General advice I've gotten is the H170 or even a B150 would have been better options if I don't intend on OC, but here in Malaysia the price gap is as such:

My Asus H110M-D = RM329, approximately $82

Cheapest available Asus B150 = RM446, around $111
Cheapest available Asus H170 = RM535, around $134
(There's also Gigabyte and Asrock, though)

So in part there were *some* budget constraints at the point of purchase, and yes the prices are much higher over here.

The H110 is the cheapest budget line and does not offer many features. If you already have the H110, I probably would not bother "upgrading" to a B150 or H170, or even the Z170. I would spend the extra money to get the better motherboard NEXT time you build.

Thanks for the advice. Perhaps I wouldn't be building a new rig anytime soon, but in the event I do (or just to have a better idea of the potential choices), any suggestions on a brand and/or model you would have recommended for a non-SLI/Crossfire config? I'm neutral on M.2 and overclocking; perhaps they would have been nice to have, perhaps not.

Nice link, thanks. Though I frequently see B150s being called 'Business' chipsets, what's the concept like for those B150 'Gaming' boards versus an entry level H150?

That's a very good question. I assume you meant H110. The B150 IS aimed at business builds, but it's perfectly fine for gaming builds too.
