Hi there, can I update my bios in my ASUS h110m-r mini itx motherboard without a display? The reasoning for this is that I have an i5 7400 in the board and it won’t give me a display because it’s using the old sky lake bios. Therefor if I pop a usb in my motherboard will it automatically update the bios? Thanks in advance!

Solution
No you can't , you need a Skylake CPU to update it or a B250 board , those are the only 2 solutions.

Only a very few high end Z boards support BIOS update without a CPU installed.

Here's the cheapest option I could find: :)

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Motherboard: MSI - B250M PRO-VD Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (€75.94 @ Komplett)
Total: €75.94
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Probably not as you need to hit a certain key to start the update and usually another key afterwards for the reboot. You could buy a cheap Pentium to do the BIOS update then return it (if the store allows it).

Selling your ASUS H110 and buying a B250 board is a good idea.

Yeah I might just have to go to a local webuy store and see if they will let me update bios in store.
