its not going to bottleneck the speed that the board uses one bit. it won't help it either but it may allow for a longer cable run.
So unless you wanted to spend a few hundred bucks on a 10gb nic, and another grand or so on a 10gbe switch then you could have used cat5e, or cat6 with complete confidence that there would be no bottlenecking.
