Noob here, I have people saying very different things so im going to try to ask this one myself.
I have a Lenovo Y720 ideacentre cube, gtx 1070 8gb, i7 7700, Samsung 8gb (M378A1K43CB2-CRC) ram. Full specs here:
http://
And i just ordered a Ballistix Sport LT DDR4 3000MHz 16GB (2x8)
http://
Website is in swedish probably but I hope it is readable.
Now, I've been seeing people saying that H170 motherboards only support up to 2133mhz, but what im seeing on the specs and on CPU-z is that im at 2400mhz. As you may have noticed, the ram i ordered is capable of 3000mhz, and from what ive read people are saying with a H170 motherboard its gonna downclock to 2133mhz (huh?) and only z170 is "the way to go" for 2400mhz and 3000mhz apparently. Even though i might only initially be getting 2400mhz, shouldn't i be able to change it in xmp to run at 3000mhz or will pc die?(lol) Seems like some think it will only run at 2133mhz, which obviously is not the case since im at 2400mhz right now, so don't know if i should take what they say as facts.

Noob out.
Cheers
