H81M-A + GTX 1060 6GB + what CPU?

I’m trying to figure out how I should upgrade my budget computer for less than $400 - $600 to get the most performance out of it. I’m wondering if the H81M-A motherboard will suffice for the GTX 1060 6 GB + a good enough CPU, or if I should go for a lower performace CPU and GPU in exchange for a motherboard upgrade. Also, I don’t know what CPU I should buy.

with that motherboard and the GPU you should go for atleast i5-4690
but if thats a new board you are gonna buy then why not go for the 7th gen board and CPU instead of 4th gen?

I want to upgrade to the GTX 1060 but I don’t know what CPU I should buy that’s compatible with the H81M-A, which I already own. Or, should I instead go with something like a 1050 Ti and RYZEN 1200 and buy a better motherboard.
