I recently purchased a 4790 CPU to replace the i3 4130 on my ASUS H87M Plus. I cannot get the computer to boot with the 4790. I had updated the BIOS to version 2108 2 weeks prior. I reinstalled the 4130 back onto the board and it works fine. Do I need to reinstall a different BIOS or go to a different CPU? My back up plan was a 4770. I use the computer for recording music with Pro Tools 12. The i3 is not enough and is being overloaded. The computer is a "Creation Station CS 200v3" sold through Sweetwater. Thanks.

*Before using the new Intel 4th Gen Core processors, we suggest that you first download the BIOS updater for new Intel 4th Gen Core Processors and then update the BIOS using this tool.

No need to change CPU, that one is fully supported. But since you said you updated your BIOS, i don't see why it wouldn't boot. Is there no post, or do you just not get into the OS?

I'm an older guy that has recently been forced into the computer world, which I am finding very enjoyable. I have been checking this web site on a regular basis for new ideas. The post you referenced I saw on Asus' website. I thought I done that when I updated the BIOS but I'm not sure. I read through the process and it sounded very confusing. I am very new to OS and I don't want to mess anything up beyond repair. Wondering if I should start over and reinstall the BIOS again or take it to the shop.
