Guys, shall i notice any difference in my pc's performance if i upgrade to a h97 chipset from a b85 considering the fact that I own a locked 4570 and a single gpu gtx 980?

Solution
Not a single bit of performance difference. Only board upgrade, that would make any kind of sense, is a low end Z97 board that supports SLI, so you could run a second GTX 980. In single card setups, the performance difference would be well within any margin of error, in benchmarks.

Thank you for your reply! But i am a bit confused, why would i need a z97 board for sli? h97 boards support sli as well?? and i cannot overclock , so whats the point in buying z97?

z87 and z97 usually have more features and they support a lot faster memory speeds(memory overclocking, with a locked cpu you can still oc the memory) than h series boards, performance wise if you aren't overclocking there is no difference, as for sli, if i recall correctly there are not enough pci-e lanes on h series boards for sli(nvidia locked it so that it runs only on x8/x16 slot and will not run on x4 or lower),so it only works with z series

ohh..i did not know that..then there is certainly no point in buying h97....z97 will also be an overkill...because neither do i plan to buy another 980..nor can i overclock...however, do u think that i5 4570 can handle games..considering that it can neither be overclocked , nor does it have hyperthreading?

i5 4670 can handle games just as any i7, even at stock. HT does help in video editing, streaming that can use extra threads, games dont.

The 4570 is a very strong gaming CPU, and your B85 board is fine. Enjoy!
