thanks.. I noticed that i cannot find the z87x in stock at amazon or newegg, so I just started considering the z97x as you say. But, would I not need to do some workarounds with Z97? I worry that it's still new and I will have to get into BIOS and workarounds, which is a totally new language for me.

I cannot find whether the XFX 650 W is readily compatible with hackintosh. I am hesitant to go that route (although, please do not take it as a disrespect in the sense that I ask for advice and when you give it I seem to disagree. It's just that I know as it is this project will be very difficult for me, therefore, I try to find pieces that are known to work "easily" and have good online info when it comes to their troubleshooting)

also, trying to put it in my shopping basket, I see that GeForce GTX 770 can come as 2gb or 4gb.. Worth the 80$ difference to get the 4gb?

I do not have any experience with hackintosh :) What I say is true for a custom build, Linux or win 7. Btw, a PSU is NOT exposed to the OS, so I do not think you are going to have any problem because of what PSU you have.

For a PSU, get anything from tier 1, 2a or 2b

A Z97 board is a better idea because it's newer and it will support the next gen intel.

Ps:I have never tried to build a hackintosh 🙁. I built a bunch of systems on win/linux and I have suggested on that experience :)

current list, if you have some feedback before I place the orders:

it's very similar to customac pro suggestions in tonymax86 page. I just upgraded the Video Card to GTX 770 4gb and the mobo to Z97X-UD5H.
and the RAM in my amazon cart is actually Crucial Ballistix Tactical Trace 2x8gb 1600mhz, but I couldn't find this in the Partspicker site.

any accessories that I forgot?
cooling enough?

monitor suggestions?
