I currently have this configuration on my cooler master HAF X:
front fan: intake
side panel fan: intake
rear fan: exhaust
top fan: exhaust

I want to add an extra 200mm top fan in the installation near the front panel and I am thinking that it should be an intake so the air it blows inside will be available for the cpu cooler. Will that work or do I need to change this config ?

in light of that info would this config provide better cooling than my current one :

You're going to have to test that one, because I see 2 things happening with it:
-air goes into the cpu cooler.
-air goes right out the drive bay's front grille.

You're likely to do more harm than good; recirculating warm air back into the cpu cooler.

The way you already have it should be fine without making these changes. If your not having temp problems why are you changing i?

If you are having temp problems start with cleaning the PC out.
