I sold a set of assassin armor to a merchant in Balmora, and after I made
the sale, he was wearing all the armor. Spooked me for a second, I almost
thought there was another assassin. How weird. You'd think he'd maybe just
put it on a shelf or something...

All the merchants will wear what you sell them if it is better than what
they are currently wearing. You could have someone wearing pieces of
exquisite clothing and bonemold and glass for a truly bizarre effect.
The only downside to this is the item is no longer for sale and if it is
a quest item then you have only one option.

adamantium pauldrons
dark assassin helm
orcish greaves
glass cuirass
left bonemould bracer, right glass gauntlet

The mod that prevents merchants from equipping anything you sell them
is called "fashionable merchants" and can be found here:

I have a very mean female dark elf... she made the male merchants wear
domina boots.
