hal.dll BSoD x124

I've narrowed down the reason as to why my PC keeps rebooting/bsod. I just built this desktop 2 days ago. I've been wrestling with it since yesterday ever since it hit me with the bsod. Well this last time around it finally left a DMP file in my Minidump. From what I can see it's caused by the hal.dll driver. Bug check code is 0x124.

Any help is appreciated and if you need specs just ask, i'll throw 'em up.

That can be a CPU related error. It maybe overheating, overclocked or faulty

Motherboard is an Asus z97-A
CPU is an Intel Core i5-4690K

What BIOS is on it now? It's upto 2012 now

That stop error may also be caused by a buggy BIOS

It says the latest version that i have is from 7/11/14

That maybe BIOS 1205 2 BIOS's behind. Update the BIOS in the BIOS to 2012. Use ez flash

2012 is from 24/10/2014

Rather new to this. Do you have a link on how to EZ flash?

Read the manual. Extract the BIOS update put it on a flash drive. Go into the BIOS select ez flash. Point it to the flash drive. Load the update

Wait for it to finish flashing the BIOS

Thanks. Flashed the updated. Also switched the SATA to RAID since Windows wouldn't boot after the update.

Now I'll just see if I get any BSoD's. Thanks for your help thus far. I'll update you tomorrow.

No probs, yup it'll reset everything after the flash. Just make sure (like you found out) theyre set back to what you had them on after
