Omg i cant beleive hl2 will be released after halo 2....its like , if it would have come out before i would have probably bought it. But there is no way in hell i'll buy it after halo 2....i'll be playing that game for at least 2 year...

As for the cpu ....its the same thing all over again....amd killing intel bad.

yea youd think valve would want to get the jumpstart on halo 2 seeing how hl2 has been in development for so freakin long. with delay after delay. valve very disapointing and thats around the same time nfsu2 is suppose to come out :(

I really don't even think that HL2 even looks good compared to Dooom 3, but then I didn't think Doom 3 screen shots made the game look stellar as far as graphics are concerned. I suppose I will have to play it to decide.

I don't think it looks as good, but the physics in it are amazing. Almost too much physics. CS:s is running at low fps for many people because their cpus can't handle the physics as well. I also heard this game is putting a hurtin on servers that run it.

Watch out for the bloody Fanboys!

Addicted, finally.

Sure at 800x600 the A64's show they ARE faster. But set the resolution and details for how most of us will be playing HL2 and it's within a couple FPS. So unless stuck on an old 15" CRT, A P4 owner will be playing HL2 exactly as well as a A64 owner. The video card will make the difference.

Hardly a case of AMD Killing Intel in HL2 IMO. They bench faster yes, much faster. But for the gamer, either will play HL2 just as well. And AXP's owners can think about upgrading that video card knowing they don't need to spend the money and upgrade to A64 to play HL2.

Well why buy a p4 when the a64 is faster.

Agreed. When upgrading a gaming rig, I won't argue that. Just wanted to point out that while gaming things will be almost identical based on HL2:VST and very very close based on CS:Source. In this case, A64 could bench higher, but not game faster/smoother.

Don't take the first line personal  . (Sorry, I couldn't resist)

The benching so far is of the actual beta for Counter Strike:Source - "Counter strike with the updated graphics and physics of the Source engine." Yeah, CS:SOurce is an actual game to play, and is the only multiplayer "mode" anounced for HL2 so far.

I have to disagree with the guy who thinks that you can ever have a computer thats fast enough for a fps. There are many components of online lag, the last one you want to factor in after recovery from server lag is a bit of cpu lag, this always multiplies the delay slightly. Athlon64 is going to run this better, thats just a fact. a64 runs everything better btw, even now video editing and decoding! we have to wait till next summer for intel to make a good machine.

However, if you are a good player, all you need is a good ping time, a crt monitor and a nice mouse to kill everyone on the server.

dont even need a good vid card or a 2004 machine.

i think anyone playing an fps now needs to aim to get one of the logitech laser mice, they are the best mice around now and really do preform above anything else.

LoL OK I have seen A64's in multitasking and they dont hold a candle to P4's on that aspect.

Ah another throw away anything that isn't A64 type post. I luv them facts.

a64 runs everything better btw, even now video editing and decoding!
EVERYTHING huh, Care to hand out some links to these facts? Intel is playing catchup for sure and DDR2 hasn't done anything for them so it seems, but they don't lose at everything. Up to this point it has all depended on the application. Typically, "everything-better" comments aren't based on facts nor worth reading. In this case, BTW, I'd say your everything was wishful thinking, fanboism or misguided info. "As well or better" I'd let fly, but "Everything better BTW", nope; I'll call that bluff.

Show me some links and if I'm out of the loop, I'll admit I'm wrong. Edumacate me; I like to learn. I've seen encoding benchies where A64 wins, but others that a plain P4 3.2 Scottie beat the FX53 & A64 3800+. Again, just depends on the AP.

And back to games even. A64 is the best, yes. But are you telling me that pulling 53.2 fps instead of 53.7 in a game is going to put you at a disadvantage. Based on your logic it seems if we want to compete, we should play all FPS games at 640x480x16 low details so that the system isn't stressed and creating any lag whatsoever. Sure that mostlty reduces GPU lag I know, just trying to make a point about overall gaming experience. And from the way it looks, HL2 will play very well on a fast AXP, P4 or A64. I'm looking forward to full release HL2 benchies, and the game too of course.

LOL, mice it is. I have an MX700 that is heavy but pretty decent for wireless. Took a while to get used to it over a regular little logitec optical or MS Intelimouse Explorer I was used to. I haven't read that laser mouse test yet.

the best mice...err Rats are the BFGs Boomslang for gaming. Though not fully optical, they have a fuc*king massive 2100dpi resolution !!! comapred to 800 dpi of Logitechs.

Also, if you want full optical then, Boomslang have a 1600 dpi optical version too.

To top all that get a [H]ardOCP designed RatPadz

The Rat is for for $40, and the Rats pad is for $10. get it if you want.
