Hi, Is it possible to play Half-Life 2 without having internet access?

You will need internet access to install the game because you must
register it online. Even if you want to play just the single-player
game.

At that point, it will probably auto-patch you to the latest update.
You must let this complete - the game will not start until this is

After that, if you start HL2 or Steam whilst you are NOT connected to
the internet, it will offer you the option to play in "offline mode"
and you can play the single-player game perfectly without connecting to
the internet. If you have an open internet connection when you start
HL2/Steam, then it will connect and search for updates. If any are
found, you must let them completely download before you can play.

Some people have posted that Steam sometimes forces them to go online
every now and again (ie. the "offline mode" option does not work.

evil and must be stopped, and lots of responses to them saying they are
pillocks.

Hmm well yes and no
You need to have internet access in order to create a steam account and
validate game files
After this process in theory you should be able to play HL2 SP
campaigns in offlline mode

Yes, but only after you have installed and updated the game while
connected to the net.

So, let me get this straight. You can play on two different computers at
the same time as long as one is "offline"?
