i am trying to install half-life + counter-strike on my computer.. i can install half life but when i try to install the patch for half life (i have all the patches including full file which is over 100mb) it keeps giving me the error about language.. but i know both the patch and the half life is in the same language.. i dont exactly remember the error message cos i had enough of it and uninstalled half-life .. i was something like anyways i installed it again the message is exactly life this " You are attempting to install a half-life update that is the incorrect language version. You are currently runing the Non-Violent english version of half-life this verion is for the english version of half life. installation will now exit" i hate this thing where can i find the non-violent half life patch ??? or how can i get over this problem ... any help ...????

Non-violent??? in Half-Life I would check and MAKE ABSOLUTELY cetain that the Content-Control is NOT enabled or you won't be abled to multiplay AT ALL with HL or any MODS.

I wish the "Games" forum was more active. It truly ranks #3 on my list of most visited forums.

Another vote for making sure content control is off.

Some day I'll be rich and famous for inventing a device that allows you to stab people in the face over the internet.

Sure, I'll be back in a jiffy. Do you have regular Half-Life, or retail CS?

Okay. Under Half-Life go to the "configuration" menu. After that, proceed to the "Content control" option which should be the 4th option under the "configuration" menu. Next Uncheck the "Activate content control" option. To put it in more simple terms:

1. Open Half-Life
2. Go to "Configuration" menu
3. Go to "Content control" menu
4. Uncheck "Activate content control"

Tell me if that does the trick, ok?

don't, half-life will become boring, without any GORE..

but if it does fixes the problem, then you have no other choice.

Actually JM, you got it backwards. I was thinking he might already have the gore off. Muliplayer games don't work if Content control is activated. In other words, If he CAN'T see gore, then he CAN'T play online Counterstrike or Half-Life games.

what if the game server turn off the gore by default, can he still play the game with content control on?

nope, try enabling content control and see what happens. It gives you a warning that you will be unable to play CS.
