Question Thermal Pad replacement on an old dell laptop ?

I have a 2010 model Dell Studio 1458 . I'm planning to clean the Heatsink, cooling fan and re-apply Thermal paste.
I found that the GPU had a thin Thermal pad and along with that there were 4 more small, thicker thermal pads (i guess for Northbridge and VRM chips).
I'm planning to replace the GPU pad with Arctic 0.5mm 6w/m-K thermal pad and use 1-1.5mm thermal pads for others.

Should i be concerned about the thickness of the pads to be used as i'm not sure whether it would hamper the cooling of these chips

Hard to say without knowing the conductivity of the old pads. But more is generally worse. So you want whatever pads you install to be only slightly thicker than the deepest depression left behind in the old pads.
