My Acer x222w LCD got bumped by a shelf, it worked fine at first. A few hours later however half of the screen turned white with colored lines. Is there anything i can do myself to fix it?
the ribbons are normally potted or just stuck on with adhesive and sometimes from the heat generated from the electronics in the display the cable can lift off the glass on the LCD, these LCD are fragile and I have checked to see if they are fixable on alot of occasions when people bring me laptops or the odd LCD display for repairs, the impact may have just help loosen the flat flex cable or ribbon.
It can be a bit confusing, but you could try disassembling the monitor. When you remove the back panel, there's a ribbon cable that goes from the panel to the guts, kind of like the one that connects a laptop keyboard to its motherboard. Try re-seating it.
