Question Half of the ram is reserved, different versions

Hello,

I built a budget PC a few months ago for a friend with 8GB DDR4 2400mhx Corsair Vengeance LPX (1x8). We recently went to upgrade to 16gb and bought the exact same stick and installed it, on task manager it recognises 2 DIMMs and windows says 16GB but task manager only shows 8 usable and 8 reserved. I've check the config and made sure maximum memory is unchecked. They are two seperate versions, something I was blissfully unaware of until now, but I'm getting mixed answers online saying as long as the speed and timings are the same it should work and others saying it wont. Naturally I would've bought the pair if I knew about this but nevertheless here we are so any tips on how to get the full 16gb usable would be appreciated thank you.

Memory modules sold as Singles have no guarantee to be compatible if used in any configuration other than as a Single module. You'll be lucky to get two of them working together.
