Half RAM detected

Hi all, I have 16GB (4 x 4GB) installed (in the logical slots) but Windows (7 Ultimate) and the BIOS only detects 8GB. I reseated the CPU and had it working on all 16GB but it had trouble booting again and when it finally booted it was back to 8GB again. Thanks.

P.S. All RAM sticks are the same.

1) When you say all RAM sticks are the "same" does that mean all four were purchased in a kit of four sticks or did you buy say two separate two stick kits of the same model?

2) Have you tested multiple combinations of them like say two sticks in DIMM 1 and 3, then 2 and 4 and do it for each set of two? Have you tried running one stick in the first slot only and testing all four separately (or whatever slot the manual tells you to use for a single stick)?
