Half the screen goes black

I have a acer AL2416w monitor that all the sudden half the screen went very dark. Can any one tell me what this is?

Connect to another PC. If it is fine then your video card is bad, but if the screen is still half dark then the monitor needs to be replaced.

Reset the monitor to factory defaults. Set resolution to native resolution.
