Hard crash when watching videos

Hi all,
After switching for a new GPU, I've been occasionally (twice in 2 weeks) experiencing situations where my PC would crash completely, my screen would black out (although at one time it displayed a grey color (the whole screen)), a buzzing sound would play, and I had to use the power button to force a power down, both times when I was watching a video. This had never happened before I got the new GPU.
I read some other threads with similar issues, but the answer ranges from RAM issue to port corrosion to PSU aging to software issue, so I don't know which one to believe.

my PC has a rather small PSU of 500W (and I'm using all of it because I have some high end components), but I did my research and according to techpowerup's review my version of the new GPU only consumes 10W more than my previous one does on average, so I didn't worry about it. Plus watching video is hardly the most GPU intensive task, whereas nothing notable has ever happened when I'm playing games.

my spec:
(Acer AG3-605-ER20 with some custom components)
CPU: i7 4790 3.6Ghz
GPU: Asus Strix GTX970 4GB (replacing a GTX760 1.5GB that the PC came with)
RAM: 12GB
HDD: 1TB
SSD: 240GB
PSU: 500W
OS: Windows 10
age of the system: 9 months (1 for the GPU)

Any help is appreciated. Thanks,

When I installed the new GPU, my Geforce app updated automatically and recognizes that I was using a new card. But I didn't uninstall anything. Should I reinstall everything anyway?
Thanks,

should I delete the Nvidia Corp folder entirely, just the Geforce experience app, or is there an inapp way to do this?
Sorry for the train of questions

edit: or do I do it in the device manager?
