Hey there, Tom!

Sorry to hear about your laptop.
So first you will need to plug out the HDD carefully.
You will need either a SATA-to-USB cable or a dock station to plug it in another computer.
You can also just plug it in internally like any other SATA drive, if you have a rig at your sight.
If it's not damaged you will be able to access your data without a problem.
If it's unaccessible, you will need to perform a data recovery. Either a professional company, or you can try using some sort of utility that you should be able to find online to recover the data.
Here's a tutorial that might be useful: http://www.wikihow.com/Recover-Data-from-the-Hard-Drive-of-a-Dead-Laptop

Hope this helps. :)

be more specific

what does not working mean?

it wont power on,it powers on but wont load

but yes you can take the hard drive out and connect it to a pc to recover stuff--as long as the hard drive is not physically broken

can connect it internally,or in hard drive dock or with a usb cable
