Hi, I have had my current hard disk for about 6 months now, I had to replace my old one which i had for about 2 years before the same problem started happening which has started to affect this one now. I have reset my computer a countless number of times now and have experienced the same problem on windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 between the two disks.

I currently have Windows 10 installed and have tried many fixes that others have managed to get working but none have been successful over the year of problems 🙁

So far I have:

  • ■ Disabled Superfetch and Windows search - 100% keeps occurring after next computer startup.
    ■ Installed Hard Disk Sentinel - 100% Health + Performance with "No actions needed."
    ■ Used sfc /scannow in administrator command prompt - Causes the Dreaded automatic repair loop :fou:
100% disk usage happens with both the 1tb and 3tb disks I have and i have checked for loose wires inside the machine but everything is connected properly. I'll list my computer specs below just in case it may help.

  • ■ MSI A55M-E33 motherboard
    ■ AMD A8-6600K APU with Radeon HD graphics 3.90 GHz
    ■ 8GB RAM
    ■ Asus Geforce GTX 750 Ti Graphics card
    ■ Windows 10 Home Operating system (64-bit operating system x64-based processor)
Hope someone can help me in this long struggle of mine 🙁

Thanks

Have you checked in Task Manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) to see what is accessing the hard drive so much? It could be Malware, or Windows Update service running in the background if you are using Windows 7 this might be the case.......Check under the "services" tab, and navigate down to "wuauserv" If you see that this is running, try right-clicking and stopping it, then see if the disk activity decreases.

Run a Malware scan with this: Zemana Portable Antimalware scanner It'll find any junk and remove or repair issues for you.

Might I ask where you obtained your copy of the Windows 7 installation? What you're seeing is dubbed a memory leak and is most commonly seen in Windows 8/8.1/10 when the OS has been corrupted.

For Windows 10, you can try a repair install or a reinstall of your OS after you've recreated your bootable USB installer.

My system was bought online with windows 7 installed onto the machine by default, I only installed Windows 10 again last night after i did a system wipe while it was still Windows 8, then when it had finished the reset, I installed the media creation tool from the Microsoft website and downloaded Windows 10, put in my product key and now it's installed.

I have Windows 8 on a disk and have used it to reset my system many times but it all comes down to the same 100% disk usage until one day the drive becomes so corrupt it cannot be used and has to be reset again 🙁

It's usually either Google Chrome or the System itself, I'm currently using Windows 10 and in services it says that "wuauserv" is disabled, the disk is okay at the moment but it can randomly spike back up to 100% when opening windows such as Google Chrome or the Start menu, I just performed a scan using Zemana but it found nothing wrong 🙁

Post screenshot from hdtune health. That will give info about health of your HDDs.

Also post screenshot from Resource Monitor (switch to disk tab, order disk activity section by total descending and adjust file column - so that file names are fully visible). That will give info about processes, that cause disk activity.

Hi sorry for the long reply, i took a few screenshots from some of the stuff you asked for, hope it helps in finding a solution. This morning when i started up my computer the disk kept crashing constantly after it started back up again. Here's a link to the images: http://
