Hi
I had 2 hardisks with many partitions
one of my disks disappears after updating to the last preview build 9926.
Note: i have Windows 8.1 installed in one partitions of the first disk and the windows 10 in one partition of the second disk
what actually disappeared in 2 partitions from the second disk.
When i log in to windows 8.1 i see the same partitions when i log in to windows 10, so the 2 partitions disappeared from both windows.
Any Help please ?
what if i hit Rolling back ? is it safe? and does this help resolving the problem ?
Please need urgent help, a lot of data their .
Thanks in advance

Hello
I rolled back to previous build and the problem not resolved.
I tried to reset my BIOS to default settings and nothing resolved.
Now i'm in serious problem as my whole data disappeared, my master researches and many important things.
To be more precise: the problem is only on the second hardisk which is #1 and not #0
and the only partition that appears from this hardisk is the windows 10 preview partition. As the windows 8.1 is on #0 hardisk and windows 10 in the second hardisk.
hope it's clear to give me an urgent solution.
Thanks

If your Windows 10 installation formatted and zeroed the original drive, then your data would be lost forever. This process would have taken several hours. Is that what your did?

Otherwise, I would examine the drive with a disc editor, eg DMDE (freeware).

http://dmde.com/

Could you show us DMDE's Partitions window?

I used this program with Thorough scan which took about 40 minutes and i recovered one of the lost partition
but the most important one still disappeared
look at the picture please

But when i mount the lost partition (in green) i see my files and everything is ok. Once i restart my PC the partition disappears and i have to use the program again and so on !!!

What shall i do ?

Using this program i get this error:

When you mount the missing partition (F:) in Partition Find and Mount, you should go to Windows Explorer and copy your recovered files to a backup drive. Unfortunately the free version of PF&M is speed limited.

In DMDE, just ignore the warning and click OK. Depending on what we find, it may be possible to permanently recover the F: partition with a few mouseclicks. The first partition (E:), however, appears to have been overwritten by your Windows 10 installation. I suspect that the original file system components (MFT) may be lost, in which case you may be forced to recover your files in raw mode, ie by looking for file signatures. PhotoRec is a good freeware tool for raw recoveries.

Hi
I just now used the "MiniTool Partition Wizard Free" program
and once i opened it the 2 partitions appeared and i mounted them with new letter and everything returned normal.
Before that i used a program called " DMDE" once i open it and chose the hardisk #1 it gives me errors and says that the hardisk is not normal and have about 2 TB of space while in fact it's only 320 GB
when i returned the 2 partitions i opened this program again and i saw a hidden partition with 1.2 TB size !!!!
while if i chose the second hardisk (#0) no errors at all and no hidden partitions
Now the partitions returned and functioning, but with errors in the hardisk, the question is why this happened after updating to the last build without any changes since a year in programs or hardware updates to my PC
and what if i update again to the last build, it could happen again ?
Thanks for your help.

Each partition starts with a boot sector. DMDE scans the drive for any sector that looks like a boot sector. It appears that it found one or more bogus boot sectors in addition to the original ones. Some of these boot sectors would be embedded within files, or would be remnants from earlier installations. To determine which of these partitions are the original ones, we would double-click them and observe the files/folders in the recovery tree. Then we would manually "Insert the Partition (Undelete)" to restore its entry in the partition table.

I prefer DMDE to tools such as TestDisk or MiniTool because it defaults to readonly mode, as does Partition Find and Mount. If you allow a tool to modify your drive without understanding what it is doing, then you risk making the problem worse.

One thing I noticed with Partition Find and Mount is that there is an unallocated area of 40GB at the end of the drive. DMDE may or may not have found something in that area.

As for your other questions, I have no idea. I would still be curious to see DMDE's partitions window.
