Hard Disk End-to-End Error

Hello,

Crystal DIsk info shows End to end error in my 1TB HDD...Values are like this 88 , 88 ,99

I don't know what that error means,but i'm experience slowness during copying and sometimes copying stucks and applications too...

I just did clean OS install but still the error exists...Is my HDD no longer good?

End to End error - This attribute is a part of Hewlett-Packard's SMART IV technology, as well as part of other vendors' IO Error Detection and Correction schemas, and it contains a count of parity errors which occur in the data path to the media via the drive's cache RAM.

First time i've seen this error before. Got this from searching around.

an end to end error flag means data loaded into the drives cache and data then written to the drive have had a different parity (basic error checking method) which likely implies a controller error

also this even though its about a SSD still applies

SMART attribute 184 (end-to-end error) indicates that the drive's on-PCB cache is going bad. The attribute is used to compare parity data between the original piece of data sent by the controller (in your PC/system) and the drive itself. This is not "bad system RAM", this is not "a bad motherboard", this is not "bad NAND flash on the SSD". It's bad cache on the SSD.

so it looks like the CASHE on the drive is going bad. never see that happen before. Yea best to back everything up and get it replaced.

I have seen many people report this error, but it never seems to cause problems if it occurs on its own. Such errors are detected and then corrected (by retransmission of the affected data?).

Are there any Command Timeout errors or UDMA CRC errors?

No other way to fix that but replace hard drive?

yea as fzabkar said I have seen reports of it fixing it self and/or the issue not causing a problem. Its pretty much just saying - hey, There were two times that i wrote data and it didn't match up from what the Cashe said and what what written. I would backup your data just in case and see if the problem either doesn't get any worse and/or fixes it self.

Ya,I already did the backup..I wait for few more days and see if it comes back to normal or if it get worse,i'll get it replaced..Still 6months warranty left..

yea if it doesn't go away within a month or two i would get it RMA'ed or try to. At least this way if the replacement is bad you will still have a few months left on the warranty.

Command Timeout errors or UDMA CRC errors should be in CrystalDiskInfo's SMART report, if they are present at all.
