Hard disk error

My HP G4 hard disk capacity is 500 GB. It is suddenly down to less than 1 GB. Window Explorer shows the My Documents folder contains more than 2,000 folders with the size of 381 GB, while it actually contains only less than 10 folders, with a total size less than 2 GB. My question is where is all the remaining disk space ? Please help.

I think you should try to repair your harddisk with the recovery disc, or something like that.

I finally found the culprit. Somebody somehow succeeded in inserting a 300+ GB "testvideo" file with the 'system' attribute into my "My Documents" folder. I changed the 's' attribute using the command line prompt command 'atttrib' and deleted the file. My hard disk space was restored.
