Hello guys,
My 2 months old laptop is failing. I got this large X warning from windows and it also failed all major SMART tests.(I purchased the laptop through a third party that purchased it from Amazon and shipped it to Nigeria. It took like 2months.. So sending it back is really not that easy at all.... And also this disk doesn't make any noise to show that it's faulty, I'm really confused though)... So I'm thinking of replacing the disk, what I can't figure is how I will transfer my OS(a fresh install) to this new hard disk... All the logic in my head ain't making no sense lol. You guys please help me out... Thanks in advance.

If the existing hard drive has indeed failed, transferring anything from it is out of the question.

You have two options (in order of preference) after installing a new hard drive:

1) Contact the laptop maker & ask them if they can supply recovery disc(s) for that model.

2) Buy a copy of Windows, install it, then get the correct drivers from the laptop maker's website.

Thanks Phillip... Fortunately the laptop still works normally to me havent found any corrupted files of mine yet. i am allowed to copy my recovery partition to a flash drive.. but dont you think that part of that partition could be corrupted and im better off requesting a new one from the manufacturer?
