Hard disk formatting

How much time will it take to format a secondary WD blue 1TB internal hard drive? i just brought it yesterday... i want to knw the proper steps regarding the setup and installation...a proper step by step procedure... and the time it will take if i format it normally not quick format.. I need to setup the hard disk today only.. Please guys help me with this..

for a full 1TB NTFS format any idea approx how much tym will it take??

In my experience about 10 minutes on a fast system maybe less. More time if you CPU is older or you have low memory.

A FULL FORMAT will take MANY HOURS! Maybe even a full day! It is nothing like a quick format!

I never had it take a day in my life. larger drives can take many hours. but I never timed it. But never a day. If you system tales a day something is wrong in my book.

Alittle over 4hrs if I remember right and Dave you must have never formatted one under usb2. LoL its like 10 -12 hrs. LOL

Thank you everyone i did it and now my harddisk is working absolutely fine.. johnnyb105 thanks to you..i followed the steps... and yes it took 1.5hrs to complete the full 1 TB format.. thanks again Happy new year!
