Hard Disk free space same after formatting

Just formatted my computer, files all deleted.

But the Hard Disk shows that the used space is identical to before the format.

Tried to put my files back in but the system says there is not enough space.

Shut Down (not Log Off) after you format the drive. Then boot back into your O/S. See if that works.

Thats what I did, used the original Windows 7 CD to reinstall windows, files all gone but memory gone AWOL lol

take the HDD out and temporarily install it in a different pc. Don't bother mounting it, just plug in the sata cables from PSU and sata from motherboard, you might need to give up sata plugs from optical disk drive for a couple minutes if you don't have any more cords. then boot up the PC and try formatting it again (in the other PC)

or reverse; get a HDD with windows on it and plug it into your PC

Did you delete all partitions and format the drive as a single one? During setup did you see the full drive space when you created the partition or formatted it?
