Hello friends
I have a 2 tra byte external wd hard drive, a few days ago it turned off once in the middle of work and its light stays fixed and does not spins. I went and tested it with two the same chargers, it was useless and therefore ,there was no problem with the charger. I opened it and put it into PC case . Its health is 100 and it does not show any bad sector, it is just unlocated and in the disk management that you go, it tells me what format should I put gpt / mbr. I did not specify the format in that message and it was probably mbr before. I tested all the different software and did not get any answer from any of them. I have not formatted the hard drive yet.

I want folder with name on it instructor
So far I tried minitool but it did not work. Active file recovery had been for 4 hours, but one percent did not find anything.

2- I guess Its format was mbr. should I put gpt format its format and then recover its data or I must put its format mbr?

"turned off once in the middle of work "

Then, you took the drive out of the external case, and put it in the PC?
It may well have been encrypted via the external enclosure. Or a different sector size.

Resulting in "Unallocated".

Format? Do NOT do any format of any type.

Put it back in the original enclosure, and connect it how it was.
What happens?

A 10 year old external?
Multiple things may have gone wrong.
The drive is dead.
The enclosure is dead.
The cable is faulty.

This is specifically what backups are for.

It sounds like the USB-SATA bridge PCB inside the enclosure is dead. My Book or My Book Essentials models are encrypted by default.

The simple solution is to purchase a replacement bridge PCB. Otherwise, depending on the fault and your skills, there may be an easy, zero cost DIY repair.

There are software solutions for decrypting your drive.
