I installed linux ultimate edition 3.5 on my computer primarily running on windows 8 but the setup unfortunately failed.(But this is not the problem)
when I tried to revert to windows 8 back again the boot file was missing and it didn't load!
when I tried to format the hard disk and restore windows 8 completely then the setup didn't detected any hard drives and I was not able to install windows previously while installing linux ultimate edition I changed the file system of the drives to ext4 maybe that damaged something that I don't know!

kindly help!!
thanks in advance...

popatim : Did they Change win8 to be able to 'read' the Sector though Linux MBR /Partitions to be able to do that? Many tries with Win7 backwards never worked for me (Windows always gets confused) and normally had to use a Boot Disk / Wipe program to really clear the MBR and set it like it was a brand new purchased clean drive. I did find Ubuntu can do that as well (simple delete the partion through it) but no repeated success as your suggesting.

Thanks!
Yes you messed up the drive and put it in a different file format. Here is the real problem, Windows can't read Linux File System (EXT) . So you need to get a Ubuntu Boot CD, then delete the drive in Ubuntu completely, then you would have to reboot with Win8 to install to 'new drive' which would format etc.

when you ado a win8 installation choose the "Custom" installation and the part that asks where to install to, hit the Advanced Drive Options link near the bottom and then delete all the existing partitions on the drive. Then you can proceed as normal with the install. Since the drive will be entirely unallocated space it will create a 350mb System Reserved partition and format the remained entirely for windows.

I've never tried wiping a linux partition with win8 but have not had problems doing it with 7 that I can recall; not that this is something my customers would have but I do play with other OS's just to be familiar with them so I do have a linux drive in my system. I will have to experiment and see if I can wipe it using windows installer.
I'd hope I didn't give bad advice.
