Hard Disk not detected

My desktop (P4) was not working due to RAM issue and was not in use for over an year. I got the RAM issue solved but the hard disk (80 GB SATA) cannot be detected. Does that mean I lost all the data? Is there a way to retrieve it?

is this your system drive with windows on it or another drive ? , can you get into windows ? does the hard drive show up in disk management

I would check the hard drive on another system It may be just a problem with the faulty system.

The drive may be fine as terry4536 said try hooking it up to another system to see if you can read the drive

Yes, It is systems drive. I cannot get into windows..

No.. It does not...

you may have a faulty drive , connect it to another pc to see if this is the case , if the HDD works on another pc then there will be something else wrong with your system , before you pull your hair out trying to figure it out try the hdd on another system first to see if that is your problem or not

Tried it with another system.. Still not detected... I do not know how may it happen.. PC was not in use, can that create some issue?... All I want is my data... Is there any possible way to retrieve it if the drive is faulty?
