Hard disk not recognized

What can be done in this situation, we have wo hard drives the other is working but the missing one has lots of info stored on it

You will need to provide a little more info about the problem than that.

For example, what type and brand? How old? What precipitated the problem? What Motherboard (thus hard drive controler)? Is it making noise? What exactly do you mean by "not recognized?

All we can do without that info is guess.

From my guess, it must be a PATA drive.... and if it is
Either change the jumper setting on the unseen drive to something other then what the primary drive is already set to.
Or then try changing the flat big cable..

As good as anything I can think of. She probably moved it and a jumper issue like you said.
