i have an ide hard disk as a primary master, and a sata hard disk as a slave, whenever i put both together, an error saying 4th hard disk S.M.A.R.T. status bad, backup and replace. i moved the slot of sata from the 1st port to the 2nd, the error changed to 3rd master hard disk S.M.A.R.T. status bad, backup and replace >.< can i no longer save it without buying a new hard disk?

Solution
maybe, maybe not. But whatever you do, back it up asap and get as much as you can.
in the future please remember that important files always need to have backups made. A backup is an extra copy (or more) of the file and should never be your only copy. A failed drive should merely be an inconvenience (having to restore your backup) and never a total loss of your precious files.

Hi there Natsuhiko,

I would also say that you need to back up the data.
After that, you can just test the drive and see what is wrong with it: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility
If the test results confirm that there is something wrong with the drive, you need to replace it as it can fail at any time. In case it is under warranty, you can just RMA it.
You can test your OS drive as well.
