[SOLVED] Hard disk shipping problem

Hi everyone, I bought a 8T hard drive on Amazon that arrived in a thin bubble envelope inside a book box contained in a larger box with some paper inside.
Being placed on the bottom sure it has taken a lot of bumps considering the damaged outer packaging, what should I do? In the past they have used much stronger packaging.
I have to put important data in it. Smart data already says it had a problem with heads not parked properly: unsafe shutdown count.
HDtune error scan was ok for now.

I have read on various forums that even if it was perfect, a disk that has suffered improper shipping and packaging is more likely to encounter errors in the future

I have an identical hard disk but it does not exceed 30 degrees Celsius / 86 F as opposed to this one that reaches 37 Celsius / 98 F


What should I do?

"Unsafe shutdown" means that the drive's power was disconnected before the heads had been parked on the ramp.

Is the hard drive reliable if it did not ship well? Do I have to return?

Most can survive some bumps powered off with heads retracted...

I'd use it, but, as with all drives.....anything important should be stored in at least two places,,,and 3 is better!

Sounds like the packing was just fine unless the drive was actually hit by something directly. Every box gets tossed around in shipping, just because the outer box had something puncture it does not mean anything.
