[SOLVED] Hard disk vanishes every time I download something?!

My laptop has 2 hard disk partitions, C: and D:. Recently I've been experiencing a very weird issue. Any time I download anything on D:, it vanishes. It disappears from My Computer however it shows up again once I restart my PC and I'm able to resume the download. However after some time it vanishes again. It's a normal 1TB hard disk (not SSD).

I've tried running error checking on D: and defragmenting it. The error checker doesn't show any error and defragmenting doesn't make a difference. I've tried running chkdsk in command prompt but the scan is unable to finish since the disk vanishes mid scan. What could be causing this issue and what can I do to fix it?

Sorry for not replying sooner. I'm running Windows 10 build 19042.630. My laptop is ASUS TUF FX504. The Bios version is American Megatrends Inc. FX504GM.310. I also wanna clarify that the 2 partitions are 2 separate disks, C: is the SSD and D: is an HDD. I installed Hard Disk Sentinel and it showed that my HDD was in critical condition with its health at 9% and more than 17,000 bad sectors. Is there any way to save the disk? Will formatting it help?
if you do a full format of the drive the bad sectors will be mapped as bad. A quick format will not do this.
if you are running windows 10, it most likely will not help much since windows 10 runs a background process and tries to find bad spots on your disk and mark them as bad...
What version of Windows 10 are you on at the moment? You might want to also state the make and model of your laptop. Also look into the BIOS version at the time of writing.

I think your HDD might be on it's way out. You should use CrystalDisk to see if anything is flagged as a problem on the HDD.

if you are running windows 10, it most likely will not help much since windows 10 runs a background process and tries to find bad spots on your disk and mark them as bad before the spot on the disk is used. The effect is that the disk appears fine for much longer but when it fails it fails much faster since windows can not do the repairs. For a HHD you can bump or drop the drive and cause physical damage to the platter or cause the heads to become misaligned and you just get a large number of errors at one time. you should go into your windows event viewer and look at the logs. look for disk error events and see how far back they go to see when the errors started popping up. A long history of errors and I would just replace the drive. if the errors occurred just after I dropped a drive I might do a full format (not quick format) then retest the drive to check its quality.
there are some areas of a HDD that if they get damaged you just can not repair the drive. The best solution is often to just replace it. (I would use a ssd)
