Hello!
I would like to know how well can a hard disk take frequent writes. I'm recording gameplay with fraps and the resolutions are high, I can end up with several hundreds of GB a day and i'm not sure if this is ok for the drive and whether it can fail pretty soon or not. I know that SSDs are prone to failure because of their limited number of writes, but I'm not sure about HDDs.

if this is a concern I would suggest drive designed for constant writes, WD purple surveillance drive are an example. any drive for such system would be built with more robust writing mechanisms. they are designed for near constant writes.

If you're recording gameplay, it would be advisable to record gameplay to a dedicated disk that is tuned for constant writes and extensive endurance.
